BLEEDING KNEES CLUB INTERVIEW

Taking Australia by storm, Alex from Bleeding Knees Club took the time to answer some questions whilst he was in Adelaide about their recent tour, Wavves and how to join the 'Bleeding Knees Club'. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/thebleedingkneesclub

Yourself and Jordan are touring around Australia at the moment with Ballarat indie group ‘Gold Fields’ on your Hard Knocks tour, how has it been so far? "So far it's been really rad, at all the shows we have had a good crowd and things have gotten pretty wild. I think there has been a stage invasion at every show which is rad. Also the 'Gold Fields' guys are pretty fun dudes to hang out with."

What’s been the loosest or most memorable moment so far on the tour? "Jordan's been wearing the same shirt all tour, thats pretty loose. I got pushed over mid song in Brisbane when the crowd was on the stage, that was also loose."

You played here in Adelaide last weekend at the Ed Castle along with Gold Fields and the Daisy Chains, how was it? "Yeah it was fun, Adelaide's a pretty unique place. We had a little crowd but people were into it so it was rad."

I was trekking through the intra-web the other day and I couldn’t help but notice that along with you guys there are some real quality acts coming straight out of the Brisbane/Gold Coast area. What do you think it is that’s making so many top notch bands come out of your state? "Hmm I don't know hey. I think that Gold Coast and Brisbane aren't really as caught up in the trends as much as Sydney and Melbourne are, so we kind of do what we want."

The hype surrounding you guys has been pretty bitchin.' Has it been a shock to you at how much publicity you’ve gained over the past year? "Yeah its so crazy. I didnt even want to be in a band, then all this happened, its pretty dumb."

Of course with publicity comes expectations. So have fans of yours been expecting much from you? (with regards to new music, partying on stage, etc) "I'm not really sure what fans expect of us. I think our fans just want to party so we kind of try and have fun while we play and not really care much. I don't know if thats a good thing, maybe we should be caring."

You guys had the opportunity to play at ‘Big Day Out’ in Brisbane, how was that? "It was a really rad experience. We didn't have many people watching because we were on at 11am and at the same time as 'The Vines', but the whole behind the scenes side of it was rad."

And of course you guys shall be touring with the one and only ‘Wavves’ this March. How psyched are you guys for that? "Yeah man we are real excited. I saw him play last year in New York and they put on a rad show. So im excited to watch them again."

Do you draw any inspiration from Nathans style of music? "Umm I used to. Like when I first heard his first and second album I listened to it alot and it probably influenced us alot. But I think we are kind of moving away from it a little now."

You guys had a huge 2010. You released your E.P entitled Virginity, toured and supported both the Soft Pack and Light Speed Champion and you guys also had the opportunity to play at ‘No Years’ in Queensland. So give me the run down, what can we expect from Bleeding Knees Club in 2011? "We sort of have a plan. We are going to do this 'Wavves' tour, then April do our own tour, then I think in May we are going to New York to record our first album with Dev from 'Lightspeed Champion' and hopefuly do some shows over their. Then probably die from fighting a bear."

And last but not least before we leave, how can anyone out there join the Bleeding Knees Club? "I don't know, honestly I'm not even sure how I got into it. Maybe you should cut off some skin from your knees and send it to me in the mail. Then ill rub it on my chest. Actually no please dont do that."
